Beethoven In America
In celebration of the Beethoven 250th Anniversary, and in conjunction with the theme of our online featured document display, Featured Document Display: 250 Years of Beethoven | National Archives Museum, we present a virtual program on Beethoven's influence in America. Moderated by Robert Aubry Davis, host of Millennium of Music and WETA’s Around Town, panelists include Michael Broyles, Professor of Musicology, Florida State University, and author of Beethoven in America; and others. Beethoven’s works continue to be performed throughout the country not only in the concert hall but his compositions have reverberated throughout American popular culture. From movies to comic strips, the great composer’s reach stretches far and wide.
