Waimakariri Gorge From Woodstock New Zealand 17-02-2019

Launched the boat at Woodstock for a blast up the Waimak gorge today. Arrived around midday there were already 15 odd empty trailers when I got there, my first time launching straight into the river. Being a small light boat it got a bit bouncy in the rough water stopped next to another boat at 48:24 before some rapids as I thought it may have been to rough to get past, had a chat with them turns out Isaac's partner didn't like the look of it so they turned back, checked out the rapids looked okay so carried on traveled 36km up stream as the river flows from Woodstock. On the way back through the gorge at 1:26:36 I noticed a group enjoying the awesome day having a BBQ next to their helicopter.
