Mini Jet Boating Waipara River New Zealand 03 06 2019

Had a good lot of rain on Saturday and into Sunday, enough to increase the Okuku river from 13cm3 when I went up on Friday to 42.9cm3 @17.00 on Saturday. So I headed up to the Waipara river today which was running at 13cm3 at the gorge, when I was waiting for traffic at Leithfield I saw a jet boat behind a 4x4 go past so I followed and caught up with them at Amberley and noticed another jet boat go past a mate of theirs, I asked if they were heading to the Waipara river and if they were okay with me tagging along. So there where four boats a LVB, Jettec my Hydro marine and not sure what type of boat Lukes was but it was a similar length as mine running a small car engine. Started out being an awesome blast up stream from the main road bridge, I think we all ran aground at some point, got up to the gorge there was some awesome scenery had to turn around as something was blocking our way. On the way back at 34:24 Luke ran up the side of a big rock and flipped his boat poor bugger was under the 7 degree water for a couple of seconds before he popped out from under his boat, his boat eventually getting stuck on a rock with the flow of water pinning it there. One of the other boats holed there hull but was lucky enough to pull up near a quarry so they could drive up to the quarry and out to the river to pick up the boat.
