Shirley Bassey - For All We Know (1976 Show #4) / FEELINGS (1976 Show #1)

1976 (Two songs performed: For All We Know AND Feelings)

Both Shirley Bassey and the Carpenters had a hit with the song, 'For All We Know' at close to the same time. Shirley's hit was in the UK and throughout Europe while The Carpenter's hit the charts in the USA. It just goes to show you that a Classic song such as 'For All We Know' can be performed by different artists with different musical styles at close to the same time, and the song still becomes a hit.

Shirley then performs the slow sultry ballad, 'Feelings' written by songwriter 'Loulou Gaste' and made famous by songwriter/singer 'Morris Albert' but of course she gives the chorus section a boost with her own powerfully unique style - This clip is from the 1976 Shirley Bassey TV Variety Series)

Shirley recorded this song as a 1971 UA Single (Side-A) / (Side-B) - What's Done is Done. This song was also included on Shirley's 1972 LP titled, 'Shirley Bassey - I Capricorn'.

ABOUT this song:
"For All We Know" is a popular song originally written for the 1970 film Lovers and Other Strangers by Fred Karlin, Robb Wilson (Robb Royer) and Arthur James (Jimmy Griffin). It was originally performed by Larry Meredith. It was heard by Richard Carpenter of The Carpenters during an evening of relaxation at the movies while on tour. Carpenter decided it would be ideal for the duo. It became a hit for them in 1971. This song became a hit in the UK for Shirley Bassey in 1971. It peaked at number six during a 24-week chart run

LYRICS::
Love, look at the two of us
Strangers in many ways
We've got a lifetime to share
So much to say
And as we go
From day to day
I'll feel you close to me
But time alone will tell
Let's take a lifetime to say
"I knew you well"
For only time
Will tell us so
And love may grow
For all we know
Love, look at the two of us
Strangers in many ways
Let's take a lifetime to say
"I knew you well"
For only timeWill tell us so
And love may grow
For all we know
Strangers (, strangers, strangers)
For all we know

Shirley recorded and released this song on her 1976 LP titled, 'Shirley Bassey - Love, Life and Feelings'

ABOUT this song:
"Feelings" is a song based on a melody composed by Loulou Gasté and made famous by Morris Albert, who recorded it as the title track of his 1975 debut album. The song's lyrics, recognizable by their "whoa whoa whoa" chorus, concern the singer's inability to "forget my feelings of love." Albert's original recording of the song was very successful, scoring #6 on the pop and #2 on the Adult Contemporary charts in America and performing well internationally. Over the next few years "Feelings" was performed by many other vocalists including Shirley Bassey, Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone, José José, Frank Sinatra, Engelbert Humperdinck, Glen Campbell, Sarah Vaughan, Dobie Gray and Johnny Mathis. It was also recorded by numerous easy listening bandleaders and ensembles such as Percy Faith, Ferrante & Teicher and 101Strings.

LYRICS:
Feelings
Nothing more than feelings
Trying to forget, my feelings of love

Teardrops
Rolling down on my face
Trying to forget, my feelings of love

Feelings
For all my life I'll feel it
I wish I'd never met you
You'll never come again

Feelings
Wo,,,feelings
Wo,,,feel you, again in my arms

Feelings
Feelings like I never lost you
And feelings like I'll never have you
Again in my Arms

Feelings
For all my life I'll feel it
I wish I'd never met you
You'll never come again

Feelings
Feelings like I never lost you
And feelings like I'll never have you
Again in my Arms

Feelings
Wo,,,feelings
Wo,,,feel you, again in my arms

Feelings
Wo,,,feelings
Wo,,,feel you, again in my arms

Again in my arms
Again in my, arms
