Severe Flooding in Northern Italy – April 17, 2025

Heavy flooding has hit parts of northern Italy throughout Thursday, April 17, with serious impacts reported in the Turin area, including Monteu da Po and Rubiana.

Rainfall began early in the morning and continued for hours, causing rivers to overflow, roads to flood, and landslides in surrounding areas. More than 400 firefighters have been deployed across the Piedmont region to manage the emergency response.

In Rubiana, rainfall totals reportedly matched the average for the entire month of April in just one day. Infrastructure is under pressure, with blocked roads, damaged drainage, and rising concern over water management systems.

Emergency crews have been active across the region throughout the day, and officials have asked residents to avoid travel where possible.
