Elegant and alluring, Malina Claire invites you into her most vulnerable, darkest mindsets. With a taste for all things orchestral and introspective, she approaches her music with the cinematic stylings of Lana Del Rey, the emotion of Fiona Apple and the production integrity of Perfume Genius. Let her take you through her hardest moments, her inklings of hope and everything in between on her journey for self-discovery, emotional recovery and truth. The name Malina is derived from the Swedish Malin symbol which represents the phrase; “you have to face setbacks to be able to go forward”, permeating the core idea of her unique folk/chamber pop fusion which often details her experiences with domestic violence, sexual abuse and mental health.

In 2018 Malina completed her studies at Queensland Conservatorium’s Bachelor of Popular Music. During this time, she garnered copious musical and life experiences and was able to pen and release her first EP ‘Behind Closed Doors’. Leading single of the same name made it to #13 Most Played on 4ZZZ on the week of its release as well as debuting at #66 on the triple j Unearthed charts. Follow-up singe Yesterday’s Coffee also found success, making the staggering leap from #100 to #44 on Unearthed in a matter of only 1 week. She also appeared on the 2018 SEED album, an original music project run through the Conservatorium, with her song Behind Closed Doors and began performing with her full 7-piece band. Amongst all this she also appeared on 4ZZZ’s Right Here, Right Now under old moniker Emily Jane before her re-branding. Described as “one of the most exciting emerging voices in Aussie music” by Happy Mag, Malina will continue to share her unique brand of storytelling with single Window and accompanying music video set for release later this year.
