Zoom and Trial Pad Demo

With the current state of affairs related to the Corona virus, trial lawyers across the nation are not able to gather in the same room for a deposition like usual. But, justice must continue. Accordingly, courts across the country are permitting and often mandating participation in depositions via video conferencing applications such as Zoom. For those who have historically relied on paper deposition exhibits, this creates a big problem. However, in a few short weeks, I've seen most of those old war horse trial lawyers learn Zoom with relative ease. Zoom provides a screen sharing tool that is quite simple. I've yet to see a lawyer incapable of using it. While the Zoom screen sharing function is certainly a useful tool, it just ins't enough for me. Prior to the pandemic, I relied heavily on TrialPad during in-person depositions. (And trials for that matter). Its presentation functions and all-around capabilities make a case come to life. Initially, I was concerned I would not be able to use TrialPad in Zoom depos. Thankfully, TrialPad adapted quickly. With the download of one additional application, the same presentations I did pre-COVID 19, are now easily done on Zoom. After a Zoom deposition today, I created this quick demo video. I consider it my way of giving back. With the practice of law consuming nearly every waking hou of mine, its hard to find ways to contribute to the cause. It's much easier when its related to something I'm passionate about. My hopes are that this video inspires lawyers of every technology skill level to adapt. Know that you can still be effective as you were in person. Because of my experience with TrialPad prior to the pandemic, it was relatively easy to make the transition. I simply had to figure out the functionality of Zoom and the app which tethered it to TrialPad. Don't let that discourage you though. TrialPad is very user friendly. Even for first time users. It may take you a little time to learn TrialPad's full capabilities but presentation with it during one deposition at a time is certainly doable. So, go forth and conquer. And if you have any questions, TrialPad has always been quick to respond to any of my "help" emails. Good luck!
