You might have a question like everyone, “How hard is Mera Peak CLIMB?”, “Can a trekker climb Mera peak?” Well, Mera Peak, the highest trekking peak in Nepal, and is the climbable peak for beginners.
6476m Mera peak can be done as your first mountain climb in the Himalayas. A carefully planned itinerary allows the best time for building fitness and acclimatization which helps to make a successful climb. 78-miles long trip through the traditional Sherpa villages, pine and rhododendron forest trails following the Hinku Valley, and standing at 6476m are major highlights of the trek. Even climbing Mera peak climb is not technically demanding, still physically challenging. Unparalleled views of five of the six highest mountains on earth will more than satisfy your goals on this climb.
The first climb of Mera peak was on May 20, 1953, by Jimmy Roberts and Sen Tenzing, about a week before the first summit of mt Everest by Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa. Since then the peak has become a popular place for many beginner climbers to gain some expertise before the hard climbs. The technical section of the peak is perfect for new climbers to gain climbing skills.
In fact, it’s not the toughest peak to climb and nor the easiest peak. Although it is taken as the trekking peak it’s not that you’ll be trekking all along. Climbers have to pass some technical sections of the peak. However, those difficult parts are not that too strenuous, a climber with basic mountaineering training and better preparation can cross those parts. The technical section to climb is the most basic difficulty of the climb. If you look at it thoroughly, there are other factors that drive the difficulty level of the expedition. Like the route, trekking distance, weather conditions, altitude sickness.
As an organizer we provide all the necessary gears for the climb, you just need to have your trekking gears. It takes about a week to reach the base camp and after a couple of day’s acclimatization and some basic training about climbing, the Mera peak Summit push-starts around 2 am in morning from Mera high camp. The route is still non-technical as climbing on about 45-degree slopes of Mera peak. The slope is steeper for a section behind the ridge and the summit comes back into the view. At the foot of the final steep summit need to use a fixed rope. Finally, the summit of Mera peak 6476m, and summit provides spectacular views of the mighty Himalayas. Every year we are organizing the Mera peak expedition and we have 100% success rate.
