Águila calva. Dos noches interminables

Las aguilas calvas están bien aisladas del clima frío y la nieve con sus 7.000 plumas. Las plumas de plumón atrapan bolsas de aire junto al cuerpo del ave, donde se calienta rápidamente y se evita que escape. Un águila puede cambiar la cantidad de aire atrapado moviendo sus plumas para crear más o menos espacio aéreo. Estas águilas utilizan el intercambio de calor a contracorriente para controlar la temperatura corporal central. El clima frío provoca cambios en el flujo sanguíneo. Fluye menos sangre a la piel y las extremidades, lo que hace que haya más sangre disponible para órganos viscerales como el estómago.
Los huevos los mantendrán con temperaturas óptimas , destapando, rodando y volviendo a colocar sus huevos. Jackie mantiene esta temperatura rodando , reposicionando los huevos y dándoles un cuarto de vuelta cada pocas horas. Las temperaturas de los huevos oscilarán entre 37 y 40 grados centigrados

Bald eagles are well insulated from cold weather and snow with their 7,000 feathers. The down feathers trap air pockets next to the bird's body, where it heats up quickly and prevents it from escaping. An eagle can change the amount of air trapped by moving its feathers to create more or less airspace. These eagles use countercurrent heat exchange to control core body temperature. Cold weather causes changes in blood flow. Less blood flows to the skin and extremities, making more blood available for visceral organs such as the stomach.
The eggs will keep them at optimal temperatures by uncovering, rolling, and replacing your eggs. Jackie maintains this temperature by rolling, repositioning the eggs and turning them a quarter turn every few hours. Egg temperatures will range between 37 and 40 degrees Celsius
