Buitre negro Aegypius monachus 2021 2º parte

Estás viendo un nido de buitre negro ("Aegypius monachus") ubicado sobre una gran pino silvestre ("Pinus sylvestris") en el Parque Nacional de la Sierra de Guadarrama en su vertiente madrileña. En esta zona se ubica una gran colonia de buitre negro que suma unas 360 parejas en la Sierra de Guadarrama en la cual el núcleo del Alto Lozoya (Rascafría, Madrid) es el de mayor importancia con unas 153 parejas. Además, se trata de una de las colonias más importantes a nivel mundial. Este año el nido es diferente al del año pasado y está ocupado por una pareja en la que los dos componentes son bastante parecidos y ninguno está anillado. La hembra presenta la cabez con las listas pálidas más marcadas y anchas que el macho. Este es el patrón de coloración de la cabeza en esta pareja, no sirve para identificar el sexo en otros ejemplares. En los buitres la incubación del huevo (55-60 días) y cuidado del pollo (100-115 días) la realizan ambos progenitores por lo que ambos se van turnando en estas tareas. Es importante tener en cuenta que aproximadamente el 70% de las parejas que empiezan a criar consiguen tener éxito en la reproducción, por lo que lo más probable es que todo salga bien y el pollo nacerá a mediados de mayo para volar de su nido a finales del verano. Se trata de un proyecto financiado y desarrollado por el Parque Nacional de la Sierra de Guadarrama con la colaboración de SEO/BirdLife con el fin de acercar al público a esta emblemática especie de este espacio protegido.
