Hamish Stuart's 1967 Epiphone Casino, Pick Up The Pieces

Average White Band's funk floor-filler Pick Up The Pieces released in July 1974. The opening chord is straight out of a "Guess The Intro" quiz, but it should get clearer once you've passed that. I didn't have a horn section to hand, so I guess this is more of a backing track. If you are a horn section, join in ;-). 1 July also marks the date of the current line-up playing their debut album at The Royal Albert Hall in 2019. So, happily full circle.

Played on the 1967 Epiphone Casino that Hamish Stuart bought in 1978. So, fair to say, it wasn't on the original recording of Pick Up The Pieces - nor part of the Royal Albert Hall gig (he'd sold the guitar, and he'd left the band in 1983!). But, this guitar made plenty of other appearances with the band from 1978 to 1983, and from 1987 with Paul McCartney, a singer/songwriter from Liverpool ;-).

It's an absolute beauty in its own right, and a blast to play. If you want to see, hear and read more about the story behind this iconic guitar, there's loads more here: https://www.godsownguitars.com/1967-epiphone-casino-e230td
