Father-friendly footy at St Johnstone FC - Year of the Dad

St Johnstone FC became the first team in Scotland to publicly celebrate Year of the Dad on Sat 20th Feb when they donned T-shirts and invited the Play Talk Read bus to McDiarmid Park - with a little help from Aileen Campbell MSP, Scottish Minister for Children and Young People and a lifelong Saints fan...
Organised by Fathers Network Scotland and supported by The Scottish Government and partner organisations, Year of the Dad celebrates the difference a great dad can make. A nationwide campaign, it aims to reach out to individuals and communities across Scotland, supporting families and organisations to help dads to have a positive involvement at home.
Also visiting the Perth-based club ahead of their home win against Motherwell, the actor, and star of CBeebies’ ‘Woolly and Tig’, Colin McCredie, joined families on board the Play Talk Read bus to lead a story session before kick-off.
PlayTalkRead buses are free for families to visit. Experienced play workers on board lead activities demonstrating simple and low-cost ideas on how to incorporate playing, talking and reading with babies and little ones into daily routines.
Here videographer Sandy Butler captures some of the day's highlights and chats to supporters and their kids.
