Thousands of protesters marched through Nantes, demonstrating against the bill approved by France's parliament banning the dissemination of images of police officers and soldiers in a bid to protect them from being targeted as individuals, Friday.
Protesters were seen carrying flares and banners, while marching through the streets, with police spotted using tear gas to disperse them.
Those involved in the publication and dissemination of the pictures could face a year in prison or a fine of up to €45,000 ($53,8400).

SOT, Mora, Protester (French): "I am here to denounce police violence, social violence. I do not agree with the global security law, because I believe that our duty as citizens is to film the police and show that there is violence in this institute, and this is the time to reform the police and that's enough, for the world is enough and for French people is enough."
SOT, Jean, Protester (French): "What seems dangerous to me is the denial of democracy that this law guarantees to the forces of order and more particularly disorder, to the detriment of fundamental rights. It does not allow journalists like you to exercise your profession, in particular the right to inform. It does not allow the citizens that we are to have a right of scrutiny over the police officers with weapons of war and all this is serious enough for us to react massively. We demand the repeal of this bill in its entirety and we demand the resignation of Mr. (Gerald) Darmanin, Minister of the Interior, as well as the dismissal of the prefect of police."
