Is there anything scarier than a shark attack?
Sharks are big, they have jaws that can cut through bone like a hot knife through butter, and they are
extremely quick.
Getting attacked by a shark is one of the worst things that can happen to a human being. Fortunately, it
rarely happens, and you're more likely to be attacked by a cow than to be attacked by a shark. That's
probably because you live on land and sharks do not.
However, beaches exist, and that's where all the horror, blood and gore that comes from a shark attack
get out.
It's almost impossible to escape when a Shark sets his jaws on you. They are pretty good swimmers, and
they can smell blood from far away. How does one defeat such a foe in the sea?
Again, humans are fortunate. Sharks almost never swim close to the beach, so they rarely have any
humans to attack or eat.
But there are exceptions to every rule. Today, we'll be looking at 10 extraordinary stories of sharks
attacking human beings. These are stories that we wouldn't have believed if we didn't have concrete

#10 Snatched From The Jaws Of Death
Valeh Levy and her daughter Sydney were having fun off the coast of the New Smyrna Beach in Florida
and were enjoying the sweet spring sun of March 2012.
Mother and daughter were sitting on their surfboards when the attack happened. Within a second,
Sydney was pulled underwater by a Shark. But Valeh wasn't prepared to allow her daughter to die so
easily.
She acted quickly. Within the next second, she had grabbed Sydney by the shoulders and taken her up
to her own surfboard. But the shark wasn't done yet. It continued to circle mother and daughter, waiting
for the perfect chance to make the perfect kill.
Unfortunately for the Shark and fortunately for mother and child, rescuers heard their scream and were
able to chase the shark away. Sydney required surgery on her foot, but she was able to make full
recovery.
#9 The Banker's Shark

Krishna Thompson, a wall Street banker, was vacationing with his wife on Grand Bahama Island when
the unthinkable happened.
He was attacked by a shark and was dragged out to sea to be a tasty snack. However, Krishna was
thoroughly disgusted by the thought of being eaten alive, so he decided to do something to remedy his
situation.
What was that thing? He pried open the shark's mouth and gifted it two blows in the nose. The shark
figured that this particular snack wasn't worth the trouble and swam off.
Sadly, Krishna didn't escape without injuries. His leg was so badly damaged that he had to amputate it.
Remarkably, Krishna is an advocate for the preservation of Sharks today. He says that "Sharks set the
balance for the whole ocean" and should be protected.
#8 A Honeymoon Tragedy
Imagine getting married, and then losing your husband right in front of you after 10 days. What a horrid
thing to imagine, right?
Well, Gemma Redmond didn't have to imagine it. It was reality for her, and she had to live through it.
Ten days after getting married, Gemma and her husband Ian were honeymooning on a tropical beach in
Seychelles when the impossible happened. Ian was snorkeling about twenty yards away from shore
when a Shark attacked him.
#7 Shirley Ann Durdin's story
33-year-old Shirley Ann Durdin was snorkeling in Peak Bay, Australia when she was attacked by a great
White Shark. The remarkable thing about the attack was that it happened when Shirley was merely
seven feet deep. But the great white shark, which eyewitnesses say was up to 20 ft. long
The shark attacked her in one swoop, and with a bite, she was cut in two. By that time, rescuers were
already on the way. However, they couldn't even rescue her remains. The Shark immediately returned
and took the other half of her body.
That shark attack was unprecedented.

#6 The Unbelievable Tape
Henri Brouce was swimming with two other divers off the Lady Julia Percy Island in Australia when a Shark appeared and bit off his leg from the knee.
