Warwick Castle | The Ultimate Guide

Hello and welcome to my ultimate guide to Warwick castle! Warwick castle is located in the town of Warwick. Built by William the Conqueror in 1068 and I'll honestly say it is definitely my favourite castle in the UK, its so different to so many other castles you’ll see because it has been completely restored, the interior fittings are even still intact, they’ve all been remodelled and there’s just so much amazing history to learn not only about the castle but about England in general as you explore. And there’s some pretty amazing views over Warwick from the ramparts which definitely helps.

Warwick castle is located in Warwick which is a pretty incredible town in itself. Its also close to the town of Shakespeare’s birthplace, Stratford upon Avon, and if you love castles so much that you want even more castles!, Kenilworth castle is around 10 minutes away.

It costs around £17 to go to Warwick castle if you book in advance online and around £24 if you buy tickets at the door. And I would recommend having at least 4 hours here, that is minimum because there’s just so much there.

As you enter there is a kids play area as well as a maze on your walk to the castle, and in the summer there are loads of events and shows happening all over the grounds, obviously its empty here because I went on a freezing day in winter the day before lockdown started. But there’s usually a bird show and an archery range and just a lot of entertainment going on. There is also a lot of really nice walks around the grounds, there is a café with a pretty good menu if you fancy a snack with a peacock garden next to it, but you’ll probably see peacocks walking around anyway because they’re absolutely everywhere. They occasionally have jousting events on as well as a fully functioning trebuchet that they fire at certain events, so make sure you check out the website to see when those are on.

Inside the actual walls of the castle there is also loads to see, for an extra cost you can go into the Warwick castle dungeon. I haven’t been in there recently but I remember going as a young kid and being terrified out of my mind (but in a good way, don’t worry) so I remember it being great!

Those are all the main sections, I hope that gives you some ideas of what you can see and do on your visit, and now onto my second part of the video I’m going to talk about the incredible history going section by section through all those parts of the castle I just mentioned and show and tell you some of my favourite things you see as you explore!
