When the CARES Act was first announced, it was promised that EIDL Grants would be processed in 3 days - meaning you would get your grant in just 3 days after applying. But, the reality of the situation is that it actually ended up taking over a month!

For example, I was one of the first people to receive the EIDL grant, and I received my EIDL grant 1 whole month after applying for the program! You can see the video I made on this process HERE: https://youtu.be/APNKAPriHks

But over the last few months, the SBA has been working to speed up this process and make it more efficient, and the good news is that it seems to be working! Because now it seems like the EIDL grants are getting processed MUCH faster. In fact, clients who I have helped apply to the EIDL program, and they have been receiving their grants in just 3 days (sometimes less).

So, today I wanted to go through and walk y’all through the process of applying and remind you all of who needs to be applying for this grant.

So, first and foremost who are the ones that should be applying for the EIDL program?

The EIDL program is meant for anyone who has a side hustle, side gig, business, LLC, and more. Do you drive for Uber? Then you can apply for the EIDL! Do you tutor kids on the weekend? Then you can apply for the EIDL! Do you host on Turo or Airbnb? THEN YOU CAN APPLY FOR THE EIDL!

The EIDL is very broad, so if you have a side hustle OR a legit business, then you can apply. You do not need an EIN, you do not need an LLC - all you need is a social security number.

Once you know that you can apply, it’s time to fill out the application. Filling out the application is really easy, it’s just a matter of filling out the required information, answering the questions, and following the prompts.

A few things to keep in mind when applying -

Make sure you input your bank information correctly - triple check this because if it's wrong it will delay or prevent you from getting the EIDL Grant. The bank info also has to match your personal information or your business information - meaning if you apply under a business, the bank info HAS to be a business bank account.
CHECK THE BOX OPTING IN FOR THE CASH ADVANCE! This cannot be overstated - you would not believe how many people I have spoken to over the last couple of months who did not receive their cash advance because they did not check the box. Such a simple mistake can make you lose your chance at your cash advance.
Know your COG and revenue figures - this is needed to be approved for the grant and have an understanding of this before applying.

Once you go through the application (Seriously, it doesn’t take more than 10 minutes) then you will click submit. Once you click submit, then you will get a confirmation number and you will want to save that confirmation number for your records.

Then, that’s it! It is extremely easy to apply and once you apply you should receive the grant within a few days.

One thing to note is that you will receive a portal invite for a loan - keep in mind that you cannot apply for the grant without applying for the loan in the process, but you can deny the loan and you can be denied the loan and still get the grant.

Make sure that if you are eligible to apply that you get this done ASAP because we don’t know how long the portal will be open!
