Bell Ringing at Langton Long Blandford, Dorset

OK, this really IS the last video from Jack Pease's 2013 outing - a bit of footage I found down the back of the (metaphorical) sofa I forgot I had! This was filmed 31st May 2013.

These are a funny little ring, which didn't feel like they were rung very often; the ringing chamber was very gloomy. (Jack's video, referenced below, informs me these bells had not been rung for 18 months... which is probably about right!).

The treble is a Purdue bell of 1674; the other two were cast by Llewellins & James of Bristol in 1909. They sound quite cute, albeit quite loud. You can see the bells swinging directly above you if you look through the holes in the ceiling!

The church is a rather impressive size for the small hamlet, albeit it also served the nearby Langton Long House (demolished 1949). It was rebuilt between 1861 and 1864 by T.H. Wyatt, at a cost of about £3,000.
