SUMMARY: A nice cooktop that works well for our outdoor kitchen.
BACKGROUND: We originally ordered this cooktop for a kitchen remodel in our home. But I ordered the 36-inch model by mistake. It was too long for our location. So we decided to put it in the outdoor kitchen.
FIT AND FINISH: We have several LG appliances. This has the same high quality of materials and appears well made.
FEATURES: As a cooktop this gives me what I want. It has a smooth, uncluttered appearance, looks easy to clean, can be operated without electricity, and offers advanced safety features (with power applied.)
Below are some features from the Home Depot Product page with my comments as appropriate.
NOTE: I converted the cooktop to use with propane in my outdoor kitchen. Burner BTU ratings drop almost 40 percent using propane. Burner ratings are found in the conversion kits instruction sheet.
• The built-in design brings a whole new aesthetic to your kitchen.
o It is almost minimalist in appearance, stainless steel with black accents.
• Stainless steel EasyClean surface a quick wipe to keep your cooktop looking like new.
• 5 sealed gas burners.
o I really wish stove and cooktop manufacturers would put the small burner in the front.
• 1 extra-large round 20,000 BTU burner (12,500 BTU for propane) in the center of the cooktop lets you power up for faster boiling on demand.
o This is great for large cookware, like a boil pot or a grandma’s cast iron skillet.
o As I mentioned above, there is a significant drop in BTU using propane. I put a large pot on the center burner with 5 quarts of water. After 15 minutes the water was hot, with bubbles in the bottom and steam rising from the top. But I was outside in 40-degree weather with a slight breeze, and the water was 40 degrees when I started. So I think it would have been boiling much sooner in the summer cooking season.)
• Auto reignition automatically reignites the burners if the flame accidentally goes out, ensuring safer, uninterrupted cooking.
o In my outdoor kitchen this is a GREAT feature. But it does require power to the cooktop during use.
o If the wind blows the flame out, the burner immediately goes into relight mode. I tested this out several times and it worked every time.
• Continuous heavy-duty cast iron grates - keep cookware stable and even heating.
o
• Easily wipe away spill and splatters thanks to the specially coated, Easy Clean, stainless-steel cooktop surface.
o I have no idea what the coating is but will follow instructions for cleaning.
• 1-year Warranty
• LP Conversion kit included.
o This was nice. But if you do the conversion, make sure to use a socket or driver that holds the jets snugly. I used a nut driver, but the old jet fell out and down inside the bottom assembly. I had to take the top sheet metal off to fish the jet out.

INSTALLATION: This is an easy installation for a mid-level DIYer. My installation was different because of the outdoor application, but the process was not much different than a countertop. I cut the hole in a stainless-steel table with a plasma cutter. After that I dropped the cooktop in, connected an LP gas hose and connector and ran a small extension cord for power.
OPERATION: This cooktop has electric burner ignition/reignition, but the burners can also be lit without power connected using a lighter of fire starter just like a BBQ pit. The control knobs are smooth and will give a nice low simmer.
SUMMARY: A great addition to our outdoor kitchen. Would work well in any indoor kitchen as well.
PROS: Easy installation. Easy operation. Auto burner relight is a great safety feature. Powerless capability is nice as well.
CONS: A longer power cord would be nice for my outdoor application.
