Creamy Dill Meat Potato Salad, often called Russian Style Olivier or Classic Potato Dill Salad.
This is the original recipe of one of the most beloved salads in Russia called "Olivier" aka "Winter Salad". It is a staple dish for Russian New Year celebration, Christmas and other holidays. The name was originated from the historic shortage of the fresh vegetables in the winter times in USSR. But this meat salad only uses the ingredients available year around. In modern times, there is no vegetable shortages anymore, but the creamy potato salad gained so much popularity not just in Russia, but worldwide, due its exceptional flavor and ease of making, that people cannot imagine the holiday table without it. Some regional versions use pickles instead of fresh cucumber.
If you choose that version, do not add salt.

INGREDIENTS:
1. Potatoes (x 3-4 medium potatoes) Boiled, cooled and peeled
2. Eggs (x 4) Hard boiled and peeled
3. Beef Meat (200g./7oz.) Cooked, and cubed or shredded
* Chicken meat can also be used instead of beef
4. Large Cucumber (x 1) Washed and cubed.
5. Sweet Peas (1 can/15 oz.) Water must be drained out of the can
6. Mayonnaise (1 cup) Can be substituted with sour cream
7. White Onion (x 1/2) Peeled and cubed
8. Green Onions (x 3-4 pc) Washed and chopped
9. Salt (a pinch)

FOR DECOR:
Dry dill (a pinch)
Use fresh herbs as a salad topper. I have used a few leaves of cilantro.
