It isn't well known that the iconic vultures of Africa are extremely at risk of extinction. Populations have plummeted drastically, a key cause is poison of carcasses to deter other predators from eating livestock, but vultures eat the carcasses , and because they all flock to feed in numbers whole populations are wiped out very quickly. That combined with their low reproductive rate, they are very vulnerable to extinction.
