Alice Munro, Canadian Nobel Prize-winning author, dies at 92

Canadian author and Nobel Prize winner Alice Munro has died at the age 92, according to a spokesperson for her publisher. She passed Monday at home in Port Hope, Ont.

Publishing more than a dozen short story collections, Munro was awarded with the Nobel Prize for literature in 2013.

Often depicting life in small town Ontario, she was the first lifelong Canadian to win, as well as the first cited exclusively for short fiction.

Though often lauded for bringing depth and universal appeal to her rural settings and characters, she said she was particularly proud of giving voice to women through her stories.
