Display server protocols: From a beginner’s perspective
I run Wayland on my main machine and X11 on my second PC, and it got me thinking. You often read about how X11 is less secure. But what does that really mean in the real world for normal users?
This video is not about features, performance, or which one is better. I’m not here to argue about scaling, drivers, or compatibility. This is purely about security and what actually matters day to day.
I talk about using official and unofficial repositories, community packages, copy-pasting commands, downloading scripts, and trusting online tutorials. I also explain what Wayland does differently, where its limits are, and why it doesn’t magically protect you from bad decisions.
If you are new to Linux, switching from Windows, or just trying to understand how safe your setup really is, this video breaks it down without fear-mongering or hype.
Drop a comment with your experience, or just leave an emoji. I read every single one. Thanks for watching.
