1938 CATERPILLAR D2 3j 506

The cylinder head stripped down and the decoke begins. I always run a tap and a die over all the threads ,there is slight wear in the valve guides but can't justify the cost of renewing them as this machine will never be worked hard anymore. Valves need to be lapped in next and await the two replacement valves from the USA . The machine is now 85 years old ! , a testament to its build quality all those years ago by Caterpillar at its USA factory at Illinois
