Boeing 787 low level flyover at Rolls Royce Victory Road plant, Derby, UK

BA's first 787, which happens to be powered by Rolls Royce Trent 1000 engines, paid a visit to the Derby plant where the engines were made, to say thank you.

It was accompanied by our Griffon engined spitfire.

Note the very low noise from the 787 vs the noise from the spitfire. The 787 is in the region of 50 times heavier, has double the cruise speed, around 8 times the range, and tens of times more power. Having said all of that, if given the choice, I know which one I would rather fly, and its the one with machine guns in it!
