In 2018, the discovery of a woman who had been murdered in an occult ritual led police to Tomás Maldonado Cera, a mild-mannered family man living in Barranquilla. What investigators didn’t realise at first was that this wasn’t an isolated event. It was just the most recent in a decade-long murder spree.

Across Colombia’s northern coast, unsolved murders had quietly accumulated, each one staged with the same disturbing symbols. The killings were ritualistic, precise, and carried out by someone who blended almost perfectly into ordinary life.

As detectives dug deeper, they uncovered a man hiding behind a mask of normality, and a series of murders that pointed to a killer obsessed with satanic iconography and ritual.
