In 2008, in the small city of Rio Brilhante in Brazil, a body is discovered. Posed in the shape of a cross and resembling a crucifixion, it's clear that this isn't just some random crime scene...

And then more bodies begin to show up. Each one carefully posed in the exact same way to look like a cross.

But is it the work of a religious fanatic? A Satanic cult? Or a disturbed serial killer, like the police start to believe?

The media soon labels this suspected serial killer "Maníaco da Cruz"... The Maniac of the Cross.

But shockingly, when the person responsible for the meticulously staged crimes is finally caught, he's revealed to be a 16 year old teenager: Dyonathan Celestrino.

A self confessed Satanist, Dyonathan claimed he was murdering people who he deemed impure after asking them questions about themselves and their life choices.

But simultaneously, he idolised Brazil's notorious "Park Maniac" serial killer, wanting to kill more victims than him...

In a case that continues to challenge Brazil's legal system and it's treatment of mentally ill criminals, this a complex and terrifying case.
