This Is What Nostalgia Feels like | A Visual Poem

hmmm...its been a while.

w o r d s //

Memory is a blood-red flower,
leaking the intoxicating nectar of Time,
tinged with a wistful sedative, a husky tenor
that leaves the senses drunk and staggering in
its wake seeping into forgotten nooks and fissures,
disturbing ancient dust, exposing uncovered shadows,
before each petal shrivels and withers away,

and memory remains nothing more
than a fading watercolour you can barely trace in the sky,
the reminiscence of a kiss upon a cheek, the receding footfalls
on streets you once remembered like the back of your hand,
your name like a dandelion you chased on breezy afternoons,
the whiff of early morning-tea curling away into the sinuous
trail of nostalgia laced with the laughter of a faceless friend you
can no longer recall,

the rustle of a look, a touch, holding a firm pact,
a tenable thread across hallway, doors, borders, centuries, promising
vehemently, insisting breathlessly to never forget
never forget
