How to Remove Finishing Nails and Brad Nails from Wood - Woodworking & DIY
Watch how to remove tricky finishing nails and brad nails from wood with 4 examples. The goal is to minimize the damage to the furniture as you repair it
1) Pulling finishing nails form 1/4 round trim without splitting the surface of the wood
2) Pulling a finishing nail from a chair back where the nail is flush with the wood
3) Removing a finishing nail from a wooden chair joint where the nail head is exposed
4) Removing brad nails from a wooden chair joint where the head is not exposed
Extracting brad nails is much more difficult because the head of the nail only has 2 sides. You want to find those sides to pull it out. It is also difficult because the metal used for brad nails is softer than finishing nails, so they can be broken if you're not careful.
