How to Turn On 3 Button Navigation on your Android Phone (Home & Back Button)

You can enable the classic 3-button navigation (Back, Home, and App Overview) on your Android phone by accessing the System or Display settings and selecting 3-button navigation instead of gestures.

Step 1 — Access Settings
Open the Settings app on your Android device. On newer phones, swipe down twice from the top of the screen and tap the gear icon to reach Settings quickly

Step 2 — Find Navigation Options
The location of the navigation option depends on your device and Android version:

Google Pixel devices: Go to System Gestures System Navigation.
Samsung Galaxy devices: Go to Display Navigation Bar.
Other manufacturers: You may need to search for Navigation, Navigation mode, or Gestures in the Settings search bar

Step 3 — Switch to 3-Button Navigation
In the navigation settings, select 3-button navigation (sometimes labeled “Buttons”) instead of Gesture navigation or 2-button navigation.

The buttons typically appear at the bottom of the screen with Back on the left, Home in the center, and Overview/App switch on the right

Some devices allow swapping the Back and Recent buttons or customizing button layouts through additional options in this menu
