The 'real masculinity' on the Oscars stage was from Chris Rock

Spiked Online Chief Political Writer Brendan O'Neill says the real masculinity on the Oscars stage was from Chris Rock.

It comes after Will Smith slapped Chris Rock live at the Oscars after the comedian made a joke towards Jada Pinkett-Smith.

The stand-up comedian suggested Pinkett-Smith, who is bald due to alopecia, would be making an appearance in "G.I Jane 2", a reference to the movie featuring actress Demi Moore, who shaved her head for the role.

“It’s already been infused with identity politics,” Mr O'Neill told Sky News host Andrew Bolt.

“The point I would make is that lots of people are talking about toxic masculinity from Will Smith.

“The real masculinity on that stage was from Chris Rock who behaved so stoically and so calmly and didn’t let it get to him and carried on with the show.”
