LANDING GEAR FAILURE! | Cessna Turboprop | Full IFR Flight | Pilot Vlog #5

Our early morning departure in the Cessna Conquest was going exactly as planned until... well... until we actually departed! Right after takeoff, we encountered a mechanical problem with the landing gear when one wheel just wouldn't retract. Although not an emergency, at the time, it emphasized the importance of always "AVIATE, NAVIGATE, COMMUNICATE" as the order of priorities. Issues at low altitude or at critical parts of a flight can turn deadly if you become distracted due to a relatively minor issue. There is absolutely no issue no matter how severe, that you can't make worse, by forgetting to fly the airplane first, get to a safe altitude, and deal with the problem when you have the ability to do so.
