CHRISTMAS traditional - “Kommet, ihr Hirten" (Come, ye shepherds)
Roberto Bertero at the organ of Turin’s Santuario della Consolata (Church of the Virgin of the Consolation).
In this video I am playing one of the many traditional songs of Christmas, specifically the joyful "Kommet, Ihr Hirten".
"Kommet, ihr Hirten" (Come, ye shepherds) is a German Christmas carol from Bohemia which was derived from a Czech carol "Nesem vám noviny". It reflects elements from the nativity story, the annunciation to the shepherds, their walk to the manger and their Adoration, inviting to follow their example. The first line, "Kommet, ihr Hirten, ihr Männer und Fraun", addresses shepherds, men and women.
During this Christmas time I will try to record many other Carols/Noëls, and most likely, later, I will also make a "combination" in order to group them all.
The sanctuary of the Consolata in this period is much more frequented than usual, therefore it becomes complex to record when the church is open… nevertheless I will try to record as many gems as possible of this lovely firmament of traditional songs which constitutes a timeless wealth for the health of our souls!
Welcome to this YouTube channel aimed at providing some quality online documentation concerning the "Camillo Guglielmo Bianchi" organ located in the Consolata Sanctuary, Turin (Italy).
Audio-video file will be regularly uploaded, all recorded LIVE.
The sound will be captured with Zoom H5 audio recorder (96kHz / 24bit), while footage will be filmed with Canon EOS 5D Mark IV.
The intent is to create a database of the musical literature performed by me, titular organist in this prestigious sanctuary, right during the religious services along the Liturgical Year or during the organ auditions, between one Mass and another.
