🐝 What's the Difference: Bees vs. Wasps [DIY Pest Control]

Bees and wasps look similar, but it’s important to be able to tell them apart so you can choose the best methods of pest control for your infestation. First, take note of your pest’s body shape. Bees, including honey bees, bumblebees, and carpenter bees, have stouter bodies, thicker legs, and are usually fuzzier. Wasps, which include paper wasps, hornets, and yellow jackets, are sleek with narrow waists, thinner legs, and less hair. Next, try to find and observe your pests’ nests. Honeybee hives are waxy with honeycombs and are often found in trees. Bumblebees typically create hives underground, and carpenter bees will burrow into wood. Wasp nests are made with a papery pulp, and are typically found in higher elevations, except yellowjackets who make their nests underground or within structures.
