Transistor Radio Repair : Hacker Hunter RP38A : Pt. 1. Evaluation
Transistor Radio Repair : Hacker Hunter RP38A : Pt. 1. Evaluation
The Hunter is a vintage transistor radio released by Hacker in 1970. Does this transistor radio need a repair? In this video I evaluate a particularly sad specimen of the RP38A which has fallen on hard times. I evaluate its condition, look at its basic operation and generally inspect the sort of work that needs doing to it to make it into a radio worth having on the shelf. Do I want to do a full restoration of it? At this point I am not sure, it all depends on what this particular transistor radio needs to bring it back from the abyss. Although it is not an antique radio repair video, after all of the valve sets I thought I would try out playing with transistor radio for a little while and switching things around.
This video style has come about after a challenge from Shaun at The Mancave Workshop. He likes all the smoothe seamless videos but he challenged me to do a single take video and this particular set was one he had been running at the mancave for a while. I accepted and he duly sent the radio to me for my evaluation.
