Glamour, Elegance and Class - three adjectives that set the mood of 1950s Parisian couture. Adjectives soon to be considered old fashioned by the modern casual movement.

But as these photographs show - this was an era - probably the last - of graceful black and white photography and dignified, perhaps even haughty, but certainly classy models. The look was distinct. The cut of the clothes was simple which required an excellence in the finishing - nothing could be hidden behind embellishment.
