Regional Queensland Road Trip | Exploring Carnarvon Gorge

We bypassed Carnarvon Gorge last year due to the Wet Season, so it's time for us to tick this bucket list Hike off!

In this episode we make our way from the coast through to the Inland way checking out Chinchilla, Condamine, Roma, Injune and Carnarvon Gorge. - staying at low cost, farm stays and Free Camps along the way!

We had a couple of great stays along this trip but our favourite camp (aside from the gorge) would have to be the Farm stay at Roma called Ups and Downs Farm Stay, It is full of old farm relics and the opportunity to get up close and personal with the farm animals.

Our visit to Carnarvon was an absolute highlight of this trip. We stayed at Sandstone Park. It is the ONLY DOG FRIENDLY Caravan park near the gorge. They have dog kennels at the park however upon our arrival I was told that Soldier may be a bit too large for the kennels on site. So our alternative to this was to secure him at the van with a long lead throughout the day, as the van is his home he was more content with this and snoozed under the water tanks throughout the day (a relief to us). Due to this we covered as much ground as we could in one day and used our other full day at the gorge resting up, we were so sore!

We walked all the way to the Big Bend and ducked into the off shoots on the way back to check out the other areas all up we covered 26.5km in the one day, we left early in the morning which I would recommend to anyone trying to beat the heat of the day, Our favourite spot was about 1.5km from Big Bend itself its not listed on the map, it was a beautiful wall of towering sandstone with a pool of water at the base, the clarity of the water and the colours of the sandstone was picture perfect!
