10 FASTEST DOG BREEDS IN THE
WORLD

When you think about fast animals, cheetahs may be the first to come to you off the top of your head,
thanks to years of childhood conditioning. However, dogs can also run very fast, and as you might know,
many of them are used for sports, hunting, and of course, chasing down criminals.
So, today on 100M, we are going to be taking a look at the ten fastest dog breeds in the world. Make
sure to stick around to find out what our number 1 fastest breed and how it can outrun a cheetah. Let's
get right into it.

#10 German Shepherd

German Shepherds are one of the most popular dogs that you could find today. In fact, it's highly
unlikely that you haven't seen a few anywhere, some way or somehow.
They were initially used as herding dogs but are now more commonly used as service and police dogs in
the United States due in part to their size and quick running speeds.
Plus, they're excellent distance runners, so for those looking for a running companion, this dog is
perfect. German Shepherds can attain a high speed of 30 miles per hour. They usually live anywhere
from nine to 13 years.

#9 The Doberman Pinscher

Doberman Pinschers originated sometime in the late 19th-century, and they were mostly bred as guard
dogs. You might agree that a guard dog wouldn't make much of a great guard if it weren't fast. These
dogs are not only one of the fastest but also one of the most intelligent.
This breed is one of the most common pet kinds and is well-known for being intelligent, alert, and loyal.
Dobermans are thought to be a mixture of many dog breeds, including the Rottweiler, black and tan
terrier, and German Pinscher. They have an athletic build, a very sleek and regal appearance, and you
might even go out on a limb and say they look very aristocratic.

These Dobermans are so energetic and smart that they do great with police and military work, dog
sports, and still make fantastic companions for families and individuals alike. At full speed, Doberman
Pinschers can reach a stunning 32 miles per hour. They reach a pretty decent height at 26 to 28 inches
tall at the shoulder and weigh 60 to 80 pounds on an average.

#8 Whippet

The Whippet is a dog breed of medium size that initially originated in England as a descendant of
Greyhounds. They still share a really close resemblance with Greyhounds and can be mistaken as a
smaller version of them.
Back in the day, Whippets made great companions for hunters because of their agility and speed, so
chasing rabbits and small games was a great skill. Today, the breed might not find many hunters to
accompany, but they still compete in agility, flyball, lure coursing, rally, and obedience. They also make
the best therapy dogs.
Whippets might not be as fast as their ancestors, the Greyhounds, but they are pretty fast. On average,
a Whippet can reach a speed of 34 miles per hour. It might not have made it super high up on this list
breeds of the fastest, but it is the fastest amongst dogs in its size range and holds the title of the fattest
accelerating dog breed in the world. They typically have a height between 18 to 22 inches at the
shoulder and weigh between 18 to 48 pounds depending on several factors.

#7 Borzoi

Borzois are very big Russian sighthounds that look a lot like some central Asian breeds such as the
Afghan hound and the Kyrgyz Taigan. They are sometimes thought to look more like greyhounds and are
referred to as "long-haired greyhounds" that come in literally every color.
This breed is tall and lean, kind with a long and narrow head and body. Their silky coat also gives them a
look of elegance and refinement, and they are known to carry themselves with a lot of pride, and you
can't blame them. I would be pretty proud and do that too if I looked like that.
They often reach a height range of 26 to 32 inches at the shoulder and may weigh anywhere around 105
pounds for the males and 90 pounds for the females. These dogs are swift and can reach a speed of 36
miles per hour on average.
#6 Dalmatian

Dalmatians are another common breed of dogs that are popularly known as pet dogs. Best known as the
stars of Disney's 101 Dalmatians, this dog breed is a sleek and athletic kind whose ancestry goes way
back several centuries. Dalmatians are delightfully decorated with eye-catching spots of black or liver,
giving them one of the most distinctive coats in the entire animal kingdom.
This breed started as a coach dog but has since served in many other capacities, including hunters'
companions, firehouses, and even circus. As charming as they are in real life and on-screen
