Setting goals is important to reach any milestone in life. Now that we are nearing the end of January, I want to share with you guys my personal financial goals for 2021, and hopefully, you can take away some ideas for your own goals!

Here are my personal finance goals for 2021 (not every goal will be perfectly applicable to your situation, but I think there are some interesting tips within the video that we can all relate to!)
1. Never spending over $1,000 in one money on my personal credit card. (by the way, for January I met this goal!) Setting an intention for a specific spending category will help keep you on track for your spending this year. Ideas would be: eating out, clothes shopping, or entertainment!
2. Take advantage of low interest rates! (if this applies to you)
The cost of borrowing money is super low, and I am currently working on refinancing my house in Seattle. This is going to save me around $1,000 a month which is CRAZY! If you are considering buying a house, now might be a good time.
3. Get my credit score up! I was making a silly mistake that was hurting my credit. Now that I am more educated, my credit score should really be on the rise this year. Ideally, you want to be at a 740+ score. Once you've hit 740 you can get the best interest rates when borrowing money.
4. Turn my second house into a positive cash flow short term rental property! By the end of 2021, I want all renovations to be done and it to be successfully making money AND paying the mortgage/expenses, while being pretty hands off.
5. Continue to contribute to my auto-save account starting in May. Auto save is the BEST way to save money in my opinion. Check to see if your bank offers this feature and get started today! You will not regret it.
6. Don't let lifestyle inflation creep into my life, even if I double my income like I predict I will. Using auto-save features and paying my taxes quarterly will help keep me in check when it comes to spending money and what can really afford.
7. Set up auto-save for my 401k account
8. Learn more about investing, and start investing in some stocks for fun! My main savings goes to a mutual fund that is professionally managed, but I think it would be fun to by into some tesla stock or bitcoin here and there just to learn how it all works.
