KP Moves to Restore Student Unions | Khyber | Ali Afridi | Pakistan Connect

Chief Minister Mohammad Sohail Afridi has indicated that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is moving closer to the restoration of student unions after years of suspension, marking a significant development in the province’s student political landscape.

He stated that student unions play a vital role in promoting democratic participation among students and in nurturing future leadership. The chief minister made these remarks during a meeting of the labour department, where the issue was discussed in detail.

According to an official statement, a resolution in favour of restoring student unions has already been passed by the provincial assembly. A dedicated committee has also been formed to present recommendations, while authorities are working on a comprehensive code of conduct in consultation with all relevant stakeholders.

Officials further confirmed that formal legislation will soon be introduced to define the structure, scope, and regulatory framework of student unions.

Although no final timeline has been announced, recent developments suggest that the revival process is steadily progressing.
