MOUNT FEATHERTOP SUMMIT via The Razorback Ridge (it took 9 hours) | Hiking Victoria Australia vlog

The Razorback Ridge trail to Mount Feathertop summit is one of the most scenic hikes in the whole of Victoria. The trailhead is on the Great Alpine Road just out of Mount Hotham at Diamantina Hut. There is a small car park on the side of the road.

The trail is 11km one way, or 22km return which was expected to take 8 hours. We arrived early to give ourselves all day to complete it.

The hike takes you along the top of the mountains which means you constantly have stunning views of the whole region including Mount Buffalo, Mount Bogong, Mount Hotham and much more.

We saw our first ever snake while hiking! It was only small but slithered across the trail right in front of me and I nearly stepped on it! We should probably invest in some gaiters for summer hiking!

Eventually the trail comes to a turnoff to Federation Hut so of course we went for a look and it was really nice. There was a large clearing where the hut and toilets are situated and would be a beautiful spot for camping. The hut looked relatively new and was quite large compared to other alpine huts we've seen. There was also 2 toilets which were pretty decent.

We went back to the trail and began the final summit climb to the top of Mount Feathertop which took roughly 30 minutes. There was a fair bit of snow up the top but only on one side of the mountain and it looked amazing. The 360 degree views from the top were insane and definitely worth the long hike!

On the way back we stopped about 30 minutes from the carpark to sit on top of one of the mountains and enjoy the incredible sunset. We got back just before it got completely dark.

In total we spent 9.5 hours hiking, walked 26km and did 36,000 steps.

Would highly recommend this hike to everyone!
