Different Aircraft carry different quantities of fuel. However there are certain parameters that need to be fulfilled when calculating the quantity of fuel required for a particular flight.
These parameters are mentioned in the Fuel Policy. During the flight planning process, to calculate the fuel quantity for a sector, the fuel policy and the fuel consumption rates are used. This ensures sufficient fuel in an aircraft to reach its destination or fly to an alternate destination if it is not possible to land at the destination. It also ensures sufficient fuel to cater for known and unknown factors.
