What is a Distance Measuring Equipment? | How DME is used to calculate Aircraft Position
Hello. In this video we look at what is a Distance Measuring Equipment or DME. We see how a DME is used by an Aircraft to compute its distance from this beacon. The distance information may be used for different purposes which is given in this video.
We also look at another important use of the DME, which is calculating an aircraft's position. This video just gives a 2d idea of position computation. However in a practical scenario, a 3d computation has to be done to calculate an aircraft's position.
