Lucid, a hot electric-vehicle producer, offered investors encouraging news on orders for its first cars that they've increased by another 30% in recent months, with a particularly strong demand for its premium vehicle, the Lucid Air Dream Edition. Following that, it achieved a significant milestone: A spike in the company's stock price propelled the company's market worth to $91 billion, surpassing Ford's market value of $79 billion and General Motors' market value of $90.9 billion. Believing that the Air is a game changer, MotorTrend named it their Car of the Year, which is unprecedented for a first-time automaker's first model, making November 2021 a truly historic month for the luxury brand. However, it is not the subject of this video. This video is mostly focused on how the Lucid start-up was neglected by the conventional auto manufacturing industry in 2017. A roller coaster of an investment, with the same startup valued at a higher level than a conventional automaker that had dubbed it a tiny fish. #LucidMotors has a rather extensive history for an EV firm, having been formed in 2007 as a battery company named Atieva before becoming an EV startup. As 2016 progressed, Lucid Motors' all-electric car in construction, the Air Model, continued to wow the crowds with its impressive track performance, reaching a high speed of 235 mph or 378 km/h. However, after a move to produce an electric vehicle in 2016, There appeared to be a slowdown in the company's attempts to get the car into the market. After declaring its intention to create an electric vehicle manufacturing plant in Arizona in November 2016, nothing was done since the firm was attempting to raise funds of $700 million required to complete the project.
At a time when other startups were taking off, Lucid Motors was struggling to stay afloat. That is presumably why they have switched their approach to investigate the possibility of selling the firm, and they were said to have been in negotiations with none other than Ford about doing just that. According to reports, it was Lucid that contacted the Detroit automaker, not the other way around. Ford was apprehensive about making such a significant change at a time when the company was just getting its bearings under a new CEO. After creating an amazing automobile program with the Air, all that remained was for the luxury manufacturer to bring it to market. The knowledge and financial resources of Ford could have made all the difference. #Ford, on the other hand, was also falling behind in its electric car efforts for some years. A fully electric car, designed from the ground up with electric propulsion, was not envisaged until 2020 for Ford.
