About the song:
‘Where we can be’ is a love song but also a song about hope.
It’s almost like you are begging yourself ‘let this be forever’.
You are head over heels in love.
‘Dancing in the rain’.
You get the feeling that this time it might be real love.
Let’s go down this road and see where it takes us.

I wrote this song starting off with the chord progression.
I just wanted to have this quarter note groove on the piano.
I could see myself walking(dancing) the street with a lot of confidence on this 73 BPM tempo.

About Martijn:

Martijn (born 11 August 1987) is a Dutch singer-songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist.
Though he is primarily a vocalist, he also accompanies himself on piano.

“Jammin’ and improvising on any instrument just makes me happy.”

Martijn's music is about all aspects of life.
About traveling, music, doubts, loss and of course love.
“ I’m always looking for progress, to find better solutions in lyrics or in my chords progressions.
Just one chord can add warmth or make a frase sound more melancholic.”
He’s feeling most comfortable in a Soul band sound.

Influences: Gregory Porter, Elton John, Raul Midon, Bill Withers, James Ingram,
Ruben Hein, Wouter Hamel, Alain Clark.

Music is still his biggest inspiration and writing songs helps to ease his mind.
Getting an idea or a melody doesn’t always happen when sitting at the piano.
It can also happen doing dishes, riding a bike on your way to the football practice, when your hiking or
drinking scotch and reading a detective novel.

In 2021 Martijn will be releasing new music.
Five brand new songs.
A ballad, a more bluesy song and some uptempo soul.
He wants to show who he is, as a musician but also as a person, the good, the bad and the worse.
