Tough decisions! Family emergency or client’s fight for freedom

A few weeks ago, my dog collapsed early morning. I had minutes to decide whether to cancel a court hearing that would determine my clients freedom or rush my dog to vet. Tough morning.

I was in a tough courtroom. Maybe toughest judge that I have ever faced. Additionally, the prosecutor was merciless and aggressive. My facts were limited so it was a test of my abilities. I needed to convince a judge to give the client an opportunity. I was fortunate to secure a victory for the client. Not going to be a convicted felon and court gave him additional sanctions but he will have a legit opportunity to succeed in life because he’s not a convicted felon.

My dog was taken to vet immediately after court. He is alive. He is being monitored snd vet is trying to figure it out. We are limiting his activity but heart seems to be good. Blood work is excellent. Time will help to figure this out. I am happy but concerned what is causing his health issue.

This was a tough morning. My wife was out of town and I did my best.

We all have struggles and obstacles in life. We face them and do our best. Sometimes it works out and sometimes it does not. When it does not, then we learn. Life is filled with obstacles. Do your best. I will continue to do my best.

Thank you to the man upstairs. Without God, I would have not had the fortitude to fight the good fight.
