NEW YORK CITY: The Locals Experience

Noochi and I had a great two weeks traveling all over New York City, enjoying the sights together. I am a born and raised New Yorker, but this was Noochi's (Thai girl) first time seeing this massive city. Follow me as I take her for the locals experience.

A visit to the Fire Department of New York:
We visited my friend Tony, who was off duty at the time, and let Noochi try on his uniform. A fireman, all suited up with tools, can be carrying typically 75lbs to 125lbs. It was very fun for her to try walking with it. We love and respect all the fire fighters of the world. Thank you to the FDNY for protecting our city.

I got sick:
Then, I stopped at Lenox Health Greenwich Village's (a division of Lenox Hill Hospital) Phyllis & William Mack Pavillion to the emergency room / clinic. I wanted to check on some painful rash that developed. It turned out to be shingles, related to chicken pox. I was given medicine. My rashes all went away within two or three weeks.

The New York Hot Dog:
We visited The Metropolitan Museum of Art on Fifth Avenue, and outside of it we decided to try a New York City hot dog and eat it right on the street. I ordered us one with everything. This included sauerkraut, onions, relish, mustard and ketchup. It cost $3. The quality was great. This is New York City's original street food. Very delicious.

A typical Taco Truck:
After that we went up to Washington Heights/ Sugar Hill area of Uptown Manhattan, where we were still hungry. We went to a typical taco truck. I ordered three tacos on a plate. The cost was $10.50. We totally loved it. They had a little salsa bar, and so we loaded it up with fresh limes and chili to make it extra sour and spicy.

New York Pizza Suprema:
Whenever you are near Penn Station, you are just across the street from one of the very famous pizzerias of New York. Many New Yorkers say this is the best in the city! A plain cheese slice cost $4 or a pepperoni costs $5.

On the last day... I took Noochi to the JFK airport on the New York subway... But not before we did a street photo shoot with one of my awesome friends -- Ape House. His photography is off the charts. Check out his web page, Instagram, and Facebook.
