Belarus - Pozdnyak seeks political asylum

The head of the Belarus Popular Front Party, Zenon Pozdnyak and the party's press secretary Sergei Naumchik are seeking political asylum in the United States. The two dissidents claim their lives were in danger.
The hard line president of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko had allegedly ordered to "neutralise" Pozdnyak and Naumchik, as in his opinion they were destabilising the political situation in the former Soviet republic. A demonstration organized by the Belarus Popular Front in April this year was violently suppressed by riot police on orders of the
President.
