Whats A Sediment Trap? (Drip Leg)
Sediment trap
The sediment trap is a new code requirement for water heaters. It’s basically a trap for moisture and sediment. The utility companies can accidentally allow sediment into the gas lines. Eventually that sediment can make it’s way to your water heater. If that happens it will destroy the gas control valve. We usually see valves go bad when there is no sediment trap installed.
It’s always included with every installation.
