Clip On Light for Computer Monitor & Laptop Screen | Quntis ScreenLinear Pro Review

In this video, I check out the Quntis ScreenLinear Pro, a lightweight laptop screen light bar that looks the part and functions well too. This light bar measures just 30cm in length and simply clips on the top of your laptop screen, monitor, or anywhere its crocodile clip can attach to.

The light bar’s 1m long USB cable comes fixed to the light bar casing. It’s a little shorter in length than I was expecting, but seeing as its use is for laptops you shouldn’t be that far away from a powered USB socket.

Both USB A and type C is supported, thanks to the end cap on the cable that will convert the socket to the port you plan on plugging it into.

Once attached to a USB port and clipped onto your screen you can begin to use its four main touch sensitive function buttons on the top side of its casing.

The first is to turn the light bar on and off. The second is to toggle the ambient light sensor mode. With this button enabled, the light bar will adjust its brightness based on the ambient light in the room (from its sensor that’s located in the middle of the light bar). Over on the other side are two light adjustment controls. The first is brightness. By tapping and holding down on the button you can gradually adjust the brightness you desire, or by tapping on the button you can cycle through its brightness levels in 25% increments.

The second button on this side allows you to adjust the light temperature. Similar to the brightness controls, you can tap and hold to adjust the light temperature between a warm 3000K to a cold 6500K. Tapping on this button will step through 3000, 4000, 5000, and 6500K range of light temperature.

Light bars are a great way to reduce screen glare and eye strain whilst working on your laptop or desktop monitor. I liked its space saving, small form factor and simple clip-on design. Its manual states it supports thicknesses between 1mm to 15mm. Although it’s not built for monitors I found with its clip I could attach it onto a number of objects to offer a decent level of working light, and not just laptop screens.

Weighing just 185grams, the light bar doesn’t put too much pressure on the screen that heavier light bars can do. Do bear in mind how you attach this light bar on thin monitors. The strength of the clip can put pressure on screens with tiny bezels on them. The manual says there is a way to mount it without the clip applying too much pressure on the display, but without being able to stop the spring on the clip from closing, I couldn’t see how this was possible.

Overall I thought the ScreenLinear Pro light bar from Quntis looked great and works just as you would expect for a laptop light bar. Its ambient sensor helps you from having to make any active adjustments throughout the day, and its built-in memory remembers the last setting you were on should you interact with the light bar manually. At £29.99 it doesn’t break the bank either. If you’re looking for a lightweight and discrete light bar for your laptop, then I recommend you check out this one for Quntis.
