Going direct is something that a lot of guitarists have to do these days, with lower stage volumes being the norm. Particularly, if one is playing in someone else's project where guitar may not be the primary focus, sound personnel often appreciate this option, as it gives them more control of the front of house mix (the sound that the audience hears). For this reason on today's episode of GTT we take a listen to the Strymon Iridium; an easy to use amp and IR Cab Simulator pedal. The Iridium has 3 core tones (a "Round" sound made to emulate a Fender Deluxe, a "Chime" sound made to emulate a Vox AC 30, and a "Punch" sound made to emulate a Marshall Plexi). Within each of those core tones the user is offered 3 cab choices along with a 3 band EQ, volume and gain controls, as well as a "Room" function that can vary the ambiance.

Lucas walks you through many of the tones available with the Iridium and gives you his honest opinion on it's ease of use, based on his perspective as a guitar who is truly relying on his hands and ears to dial in tones.
